Gemma McGregor will attend a residency at The Red House, Aldeburgh in August 2019 to receive support work on a new opera.
A concert by Nordic Viola featuring Katherine Wren and Gemma McGregor playing music inspired by Northern islands including Betrayal by Gemma McGregor will take place at St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall, on 16.10.18.
The Multitude of Voyces have commissioned Gemma McGregor to write the third in a series of pieces for SSA choir and harp by female composers. The new work will be performed on 8.03.19 at St Thomas's Church, Salisbury, by the Godolphin Vocal Ensemble conducted by Olivia Sparkhall.
Joy, a new work for solo violin, will be performed by Sabina Virtosu on 16.10.18 at St George the Martyr Church, Southwark, London, and on 20.10.18 at the St Peter's Church, Nottingham. These concerts are part of a tour by Illuminate, a group that promotes music by women.
On Thursday June 14th at Stromness Town Hall at 7.30pm there will be a recital of music by women composers for flute and piano performed by Gemma McGregor and Kesia Decote. The programme will include Tantrum for solo flute and Always By the Shore for piano by Gemma McGregor.
Two commissions were premiered at Goldsmiths University on 8th March 2018: The Enquiry for violin and piano, and Almost White, for shakuhachi. This was the first concert of a tour by contemporary music group, Illuminate, which went on to Oxford, Brighton, Stafford and Cardiff.
'Wave Form' - a multidisciplinary installation by the Experimental Music Project will take place from 8-9pm at the Pier Arts Centre, Stromness on Friday 26th January, 2018. Gemma McGregor (musician/composer) will collaborate with sculptor Anne Bevan and scientist Michael Bell.
