Waveform, by Gemma McGregor and visual artist, Anne Bevan, was a multidisciplinary performance involving musicians, artworks, lights, water and a skipping rope. Contributions were made by new technology scientist, Michael Bell, and film-maker, Mark Jenkins. Structured improvisation was played in response to the evolving events, images and sounds by Gemma McGregor (seven flutes) and Gillian Morrison (double bass). This was the second performance given byThe Experimental Music Project at The Pier Arts Centre on 26.01.18.
Reflections is a quartet for flute, clarinet, accordion, cello & double bass that opened an exhibition at the Pier Arts Centre on 7.09.17. It was a retrospective of the work of Orcadian artist, Sylvia Wishart. Reflections, by Gemma McGregor, was composed in response to Sylvias's painting, and to the view from Sylvia's window at her home in Stromness that it depicts. This was the inaugural performance by The Experimental Music Project - a flexible group of musicians and artists directed by Gemma McGregor.
